Hitachi 65SWX20B 65-Inch 16:9 Projection HDTV-Ready TV Specifications
The 65-inch widescreen 65SWX20B projection television puts an enormous, theater-like screen right in your living room. Hitachi coordinated the design of all of the set's key components, from source to screen, fashioning an ultra-bright TV that delivers razor-sharp images from both high-definition and conventional content.
The set's AV NET interface simplifies both onscreen control and operation of other system components such as DVD players, VCRs, and audio/video receivers. A step-by-step onscreen wizard guides you through system setup, prompting as to device type, manufacturer, and input. A small IR transmitter positioned in front of each component--regardless of brand--provides comprehensive control of an entire home theater. The 65SWX20B comes with an additional, simplified remote that reduces the number of buttons to just 12 of the most necessary.
Inside, the set's wide-neck CRT accommodates a significantly larger electron gun, which enables much larger aperture dimensions for better control over the shape, size, and focus of the electron beam that generates the images you watch. And Hitachi--rather than letting all its advanced engineering sit idly by when you're watching conventional, low-resolution sources--created VirtualHD. Its unique circuitry upconverts analog signals to a common higher-definition standard that's a perfect match to the set's high-performance CRT, lens, and screen systems.
Unlike a conventional TV with a single cathode-ray picture tube (CRT), a projection set has three CRTs and an optical system to direct the image to the screen. The process of aligning and focusing the red, green, and blue images at the screen, known as convergence, can be affected by magnetic influences. Even the direction your TV is facing can affect convergence. This projection TV comes with unique, factory-adjusted convergence parameters that serve as a custom reference standard.
The field/frame structure of video makes it difficult to properly display rapid motion. To ensure smooth playback, additional picture information must be created in every frame. Hitachi's motion-adaptive algorithm works with just about any video or audio configuration--including wideband component, composite- and S-video connections. A DVI digital input (and IEEE 1394 with 5C copy protection) accommodates newer-generation digital set-top boxes.
The set delivers 20 watts per channel through a pair of two-way speakers with bass-reflex cabinets. BBE Mach3 bass enhancement reinforces the powerful low frequencies, SRS TruSurround simulates surround sound from any two speakers, and BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages.
An anti-reflective screen shield ensures smooth, even light distribution, and wide viewing angles, while Magic Focus Convergence automatically aligns the picture for optimum performance at the touch of a button.
