I bought this 42 "LCD in a month or so after a lot of research and shopping around. I had all my due diligence with regard to meeting in person all the sets up close and personal with comparable options. Hitachi etc. makes a first class product, and has excellent customer service as well. Actually, I called once after installing the TV and was not even a question on the LCD, but much more about a topic interaction with myBlu-ray, and had the time to resolve the problem successfully. Not to mention that it was a painful wait for a support specialist and has not been outsourced, but in California.
This TV has a very sharp image with brilliant colors true that point. I almost none of the original factory settings changed from the image. The sound is decent, but it took some fiddling with the configuration. I usually always see TV'm through the surround sound system plus INo audiophile so well for me when run by the speaker device. The backlight can be a little more in the corners from time to time, but is only visible when the screen is completely black. You can remove if you do, why they chose to lower levels. I like the picture, as they are, and have chosen to leave out. The trade-off is the best picture I feel TV has to offer ... Do not despair.
I shopped around for a while 'to get the best deal and end up buyingthis for Sam's Club for $ 747 in early December 09 '. Definitely worth the price and I think that is a unit larger than comparable Vize, the Samsung, etc. ..
